Long Island Feeling The Dew Point Whoosh!

Yesterday’s cold front produce widespread severe weather just south of Long Island including some flash flooding and tornadoes. That front is now offshore and the secondary front has now pushed offshore as well. We are seeing what I would describe as the big dew point woosh down. Humidity levels are dropping rapidly and we are enjoying sunshine as the satellite picture shows. There is a weak upper trough that will pass by and that might create a few patchy clouds from time to time today but the humidity will be nice and  low through Saturday and only come up slightly on Sunday.

Temperatures this afternoon will reach into the 80s and then that leads to a clear sky tonight with a bit of a nice northwest breeze. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s to around 60. Saturday will be a very nice day with sunshine all day long. Highs will be in the upper 70s to around 80. The humidity will be very low.

Sunday brings the next cold front but we will not see the tropical air forcing northward ahead of it. The humidity comes up a bit but it will still be mainly comfortable. Look for sunshine and some clouds Sunday with highs reaching into the 80s away from the ocean. When the front passes Sunday night there is the chance for a scattered shower or thunderstorms.

Next week begins dry with sunshine on Monday with low humidity as the next high builds in. Sunday’s front stalls offshore and it looks to be far enough east that we will be spared any issues from it at least through Tuesday. High Monday will be in the lower 80s with 70s along the shore and Tuesday highs will be in the upper 70s to near 80 though cooler at the beaches. We should see some sun Tuesday though the proximity of the front could mean some clouds will be around. Later next week we will see if the front buckles and some rain possibly comes into the picture later in the week.
