Long Island Enjoys Nice Start to the Weekend Late Showers Thunderstorm Sunday

No doubt it is a nice start to the weekend as the satellite shows mostly sunny skies. We certainly had a cool refreshing start to the day with lows in the 50s. Sunshine should continue for the rest of the day. Clouds to the south stay to the south. Highs this afternoon will be in the mid to upper 70s. It is a picture perfect end to wet month and a month that finishes slightly below average temperature wise. No radar issues today and tonight will be nice and clear with lows a little higher than this morning but still down in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Sunday brings along the next cold front. The humidity Sunday comes up a bit. We also will have clouds and there is the chance for scattered showers or a thunderstorm. The best chance of this will be in the late afternoon and evening. We may squeeze in some sun in between. Highs will reach the upper 70s. The front passes and a new dry air mass arrives Monday. Severe weather risks Sunday will be well to our northwest and also well to our south.

While the front stalls offshore it will be far enough out to allow for another dry air mass to build in. Monday will be nice and sunny with highs in the upper 70s to near 80. Tuesday the first of 2 waves will move northeast on the stalled frontal boundary to the east. This likely passes far enough east to keep us out of rain but close enough to put us in clouds and enough of it to cut down on the sunshine. Highs will be in the 70s Tuesday. That wave goes by. Wednesday will see more sun than clouds with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Then a second wave heads our way and this one stands a better chance to bring clouds Thursday and a good chance for rain Thursday night into Friday. Humidity levels this week will be mostly on the low side at least into Wednesday before coming up a bit late week.
